A Dangerous Master: How To Keep Technology From Slipping Beyond Our Control by Wendell Wallach

The author is an ethicist at Yale University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics. He is also the co-author of Moral Machines: Teaching Robots Right From Wrong. Wallach, according to the reviews I have read thus far, takes emerging technology and shows how humanity is hopefully going to be able to handle these technologies in a common sense and hopefully thoughtful way. Wallach shows in an evenly balanced manner the upside of these technologies as well as the downside. He also explores the decision-making process that will be needed in handling and making quality decisions in handling these technologies.

Emerging technologies that are discussed include: genetics, nanotechnology, synthetic organisms, drones, 3-D printers and supercomputers and others. Two of the most interesting questions posed from the book include: Who should be held accountable when these technologies are misused and what responsibility do the creators and users of these technologies have for these technologies? These two questions made me purchase this book to see if the author could answer only these two questions. We will see!!!

I have included a video from the author about robotic warfare from June 10, 2015.
