Currently Reading: Seveneves By Neal Stephenson

500x281 (500×281)

I have recently begun Seveneves by Neal Stephenson and am about twenty percent through. I must say that this has kept my attention even with the intense focus thus far on the technology of space travel and the problems that must be overcome. What is of interest to me is the human nature aspect of the book.

The earth is coming to an end in approximately two years.(I don’t believe that this deserves a spoiler alert). The different approaches to how each culture on earth moves forward in accepting this inevitability as well as the politics of each nationality play into this, I must say I find fascinating. I have read reviews that diss the character development, but I believe in reading this, you must look at the big picture, and how each one of our actions based on the fragility of our lives affect each other and getting us as a group to move forward.

After having read several Neal Stephenson books such as Anathem and Cryptonomicon, this is what I expect from a tremendous storyteller. At over 800 pages, my decision was to decide if I wanted to make the time commitment to read this. I must say that I am really happy thus far.

I have included a video from Neal Stephenson about Seveneves. Hope you enjoy!!!
