This is a book that I picked up after reading 2666 and I must say that Bolano has a tremendous sense of humor. This a book that includes essays, articles and speeches from 1998-2003 and also includes an interview right before his death. The beauty of the book to me is his candidness and humor in discussing people, his homeland of Chile and where he lived in Spain. You can pick up this book at any point and get a sense of the author and especially his personality. It gave me a much greater appreciation of Latin American authors and poets and I must say that is not what I am attracted to in my reading selections.
