I ran across this in my reading in the last couple of days and wanted to share. I guess being a county commissioner and voting on our school’s education budget, I am intrigued now with books on education, and especially this one, where the author goes back to the same school in which he taught fourteen years ago.

Getting Schooled: The Reeducation Of An American Teacher     Garret Keizer

How would you like to go back and teach in a rural Vermont high school and have as your principal one of your former students? Keizer describes the challenges that face the modern day teacher as compared to a short time span as just fifteen years ago. How fast our world is moving!!! This book describes a year in Keizer’s classroom and all the things that go along with being a teacher, such as dealing with student’s problems, poverty and standardized testing.
