Mr. Selden’s Map Of China: Decoding The Secrets Of A Vanished Cartographer     Timothy Brook

I am intrigued with maps and Westerners were surely intrigued in understanding Cathay and finding a sea route. These maps of the past 400 years tell a story of how Europeans strived to engage China in trade. This biography of an English lawyer, John Selden tells this story and this map which was discovered in 2008 will make an interesting read I am sure.

The Empire Of Necessity: Slavery, Freedom, And Deception In The New World     Greg Grandin

The author explores how liberty of the late 18th century in America and France coexisted with slavery which expanded tremendously after freedom was established. The complex nature of slavery is explored of which greed truly raised its ugly head. This looks to be rather interesting.
