The Norm Chronicles:Stories And Numbers Around Danger Michael Blastland and David Spiegel Halter
This book explores statistical risk and chance and presents statistics about danger in our everyday lives such as should I fly or take a train? A treasure trove of facts!!!
The author does an excellent job in bringing to light the mistakes that have been committed by the medical community. A well-researched book that provides how the medical community accepted therapies and practices even though some of these were obviously not well thought out. By using statistics of increased numbers we should be able to assess the effects of most treatments.
The author gathers stories that show the fear and unwillingness for the general public to accept the truths of science but rather accept denialism. I have seen mixed reviews of this book but it seems to be one of those books that I will have to read and make my own judgment rather than what a reviewer has to say.
